Happy Thanksgiving Scrum Fans!
Given the chaos of the holiday week I have just a quick report on the injury status of some of WWE’s biggest stars this week. Thankfully (winkwink) none of them appear to be too serious (yet), so hopefully they’ll all be entertaining us again sooner rather than later.
Injury Report
There is still no official time-table for Becky Lynch returning to action. Unfortunately, concussions are unpredictable and affect people differently. Sometimes you can bounce back in a matter of days, other times you have lingering side effects for years (I speak from experience). Hopefully everyone’s favorite Lass Kicker falls in the former camp so that she can capitalize on her current momentum as THE top star in the company.
Alexa Bliss has also not yet cleared concussion protocols, but the company is finding other ways to use her on TV in the meantime. Some reports even suggest that she could be next in line for a run as Raw General Manager after interim GM Baron Corbin’s story wraps up.
The beat down and “shattered elbow” Braun Strowman suffered on Raw this past week was to cover for a legitimate elbow issue the big man is suffering. He’s scheduled to have surgery this coming Monday. While the doctors won’t know the full extent of his issues until they open him up, Strowman is not expected to be out for very long. He’s expected still to face Baron Corbin at TLC, and they’ll use the injured elbow as a “weakness” for Corbin to focus on and Braun to overcome.
Though not currently an active member of the WWE roster, it’s worth mentioning that Hall of famer Hacksaw Jim Duggan spent Thanksgiving in the hospital. The 64 year, who still competes for other promotions, was said to be in ICU but in good spirits and surrounded by family. The exact reason for his hospital say is unknown, but we wish him the best on a speedy recovery.
Assorted News and Notes
We knew there could be some call ups on the way after Survivor Series, and they gave us the 1st glimpse of those during that event. Vignettes began airing this past week to promote the arrival of Lars Sullivan to the main roster. I’m not sure if he’s completely ready to make the move, but he has done pretty much all there is for him to do at NXT at this point. Given his monster size, the rumor mill expects him to get a big push from muscle fan Mr. McMahon…. Well, for a little while at least.
Though it’s not yet Wrestlmania season, it is certainly Wrestlemania speculation season. There’s been much talk recently of Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch squaring off as one of the main events, and the latest word on another possible main event suggest current IC champion Seth Rollins taking on Brock Lesnar for the Universal title. While an argument could be made that they should have shifted gears months ago, letting Rollins dethrone Lesnar instead of Reigns, now that Roman is out of the picture for the forseeable future his friend Seth would make a worthy replacement as “top babyface.”
