A welcome return. MITB rematch, 24/7 hijinks.
It’s a NEW RETURN!
Xavier woods and the WWE Heavyweight Champion, Kofi Kingston invite their missing brother back. However, a fake Big E is under the curtain. Big E eventually makes his return, although not medically cleared. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens arrive. Sami states that he never received a party for being out longer. New Day asked what did KO give you? The answer is nothing and the crowd loves it. KO walks out from embarrassment and disgust. Leading for New Day to celebrate.
Ali vs Andrade. Ali wins via roll up pin fall.
As almost mirror match up from Raw’s Ricochet vs Cesaro, SDL is gifted an Ali vs Cesaro match. Ali has a back injury like Ricochet, but has a heart of a lion. Andrade just beats down Ali for about 90% of the match. Yet the Heart of 205 Live will not give up. Kicking out of pin falls that would best men twice his size. The downfall was Andrade’s cocky attitude, after gloating Ali rolls up Andrade for a surprise pin fall. Maybe the best match of the night. Thst is foreshadowing folks.
Carmella with “Carmella” at ring side vs Mandy Rose with Sonya Deville. No Contest.
Before the match, R-Truth’s BFF gives the 24/7 champion a make over so no one will know R-Truth is out there.
The match begins. Rose gets some hits in and so does Carmella. However, this match is a “No Contest” because the locker room chase after a disguised R-Truth for the 24/7 title. R-Truth takes Carmella on his back and runs. Shortly, just as the duo was about to escape the B-Team attack. Bo Dallas goes for a pin, but his team mate Curtis Axel pulls him off. Axel wants the title, this allows R-Truth to escape another day. R-Truth is a WWE treasure.
A big return. Big Dog looks ahead.
Kofi Kingston vs Sami Zayn. Kofi wins via Trouble in Paradise pin fall.
When I saw this unfolded, I thought it was weird that wasn’t a Main Event match. But WWE told me “Hold my beer”.
It was a quick and decent match. Showcasing what Sami will and can bring to a match. Sami tried every trick from the Heel Book to win, But Kofi reverse the Blue Thunder with a Trouble In Paradise for the pin fall. You may ask “Well that was it?!”
Oh, no… that was “not it”. Paul Heyman comes dow to the ring to tease a Lesnar cash in. But Dolph Ziggler arrives and beats the Holy Heck out of Kofi. The Zig Man uses steel chairs to attempt to break Kofi’s neck. Finally Ziggler walks away and the paramedics arrive. But Kofi refuses treatment and walks away on his own two feet. Later in the show, Dolph explains himself. Ziggler is upset that Kofi is admire from the crowd, when he did the same thing and never got the chance to shine. Well, that is true… Dolph is a company man and the crowd barely bought in to him.
What I see is a feud that may blow the crowd’s brain if done right. Two over looked super stars that deserve better booking. I actually can’t wait for this in ring story telling.
Roman Reigns vs Elias. Roman wins via Spear pin fall.
How do you get over from a BIG surprise and thoughtful heel turn? Well according to WWE, you make a Roman vs Elias match with Shane at ringside. This goes as you expect. Roman gets beat down, Roman overcomes, and Roman wins. The Big Dog hits a Spear on Elias after Shane decides to interfere. Just as Shane was about to get his much deserve, Drew McIntyre smacks Roman with a Claymore Kick. Letting Roman that the McMahon’s run this show, no matter if you beat Leukemia twice. Shane will always be The Best In The World!!!! *sigh*
MITB afterthoughts.
Well after both flagship shows following, in what could’ve been WWE’s next big PPV I felt mute. As a fan of pro wrestling for over three decades, watching the biggest promotion I felt mute. Why? Because according to ratings, numerous rumors, WWE still just does not “Get it”. Plenty of “Awe inspiring stories, matches, entertainment” could’ve happen. However, the WWE audience is served the same contrived, “We know what you want” story arc. Alas, main-streamers will still tune in because it’s the only thing on the majority of airwaves…. for now.
