Odorizzi, magical against Blue Jays
Jake Odorizzi would start this game grounding out Kevin Pillar for the first out of the game. Then striking out Jose Bautista. He wouldn’t get so lucky with the next batter Ezequiel Carrera, who would launch a ball into the right field seats for a 1-0 Blue Jays lead. Odorizzi wouldn’t really get into a jam all game long, and never walked a single batter while striking out six. Before the game Alex Cobb mentioned the starters needed to go longer, and Odorizzi did just that by going seven great innings.
LoMo continues good start to season.
In the bottom of the Logan Morrison would hand the Tampa Bay Rays the lead with a 1-1 count from Marcus Estrada. With Toronto leading 1-0 following a 1st inning home run, Evan Longoria would hit a single up the middle with two outs. Following strikeouts by Dickerson and Miller, the single by Longoria would end up being huge. Logan Morrison would step into the batters box and give the Rays a 2-1 lead early in the game. Then in the bottom of the 6th, Morrison would come to bat following a double by Longoria. He would get a double of his own driving in Longoria from second. Logan would end up having a three RBI night for Tampa.
Rasmus gets HR #1 as a Ray
Colby Rasmus hadn’t had much of a chance to hit a HR since he joined the Rays during their brief two game trip to Miami. Today he got one monkey off his back though, by hitting his first home run as a Rays player. Down 0-1 in the count Rasmus sent a blast over the heads over Jose Bautista and Kevin Pillar for a 5-1 lead. He would ad a fielders choice RBI single in the bottom of the 8th. Rasmus would end the night just like Morrison with three RBI’s.
