Rey Mysterio now signed with and co-owner of the Aro Lucha promotion.
It has been known for some time that the Nashville-based upstart wrestling promotion would start filming the first season of its television show soon. Rey Mysterio, who appeared at the Royal Rumble in January, was thought to be a hairm returning to WWE. But, along with the crowd funding campaign to raise capital and allow the fans to be minority stakeholders in the company, the signing of the former WCW and WWE mega star, is a good business move for Aro. The company will focus on lucha libre. However, unlike Lucha Underground (which targets a teen to adult demographic), Aro Lucha will be an all-ages show.
Mysterio spoke with the Tenneseean newspaper and had this to say about the project.
“I think what we are doing with Aro Lucha being fan-owned is revolutionary. We are giving the fans something they have never had before, a voice and a chance to get in on the action.”
No network has been announced as of yet, once news of a television deal breaks, they will be sure to make a splash with the news.
