Mr Money refuses to call himself the best in the world and states he acted on instinct. Shane-O-Mac then announces Smackdown’s Survivor Series captain. The American Dragon, Daniel Bryan. Shortly afterwards, The Miz arrives to stake his claim as captain. After a stirring case, Shane announces that he agrees and make both men co-captains. After the break both Miz and Bryan choose their first pick, Shane McMahon. Shane agrees and both men comically feel awkward in finally agreeing.
New Day vs Usos for Smackdown’s Survivor Series tag team captains. Usos win via Uso Splash for pinfall.
In a match that could’ve been match of the night and yes there might be others. These two teams lock up again. Kofi and Jey lock up, both feel each other out like old rivals do. Reeling Jey gets a quick upper hand and lands a double stomp on Kofi. This leads to a hot tag to both Big E and Jimmy. The New Day powerhouse lays in to Jimmy left and right. Jey makes a blind tag and takes advatage of a distracted Big E. While attempting a Frog Splash, Jey is met with Big E’s knees and then the Big Ending. Jimmy breaks the count, which leads for Kofi to blind tag in. The Usos attempt to double suplex Kofi to the outside, but Big E hits a huge spear. Big E then rams Jimmy in to the barriers. The Usos regain control outside until Kofi hit a Trust Fall on the outside.
After the break.
Kofi and Jimmy scrap and it leads on top on the turnbuckle. Kofi is pushed off, but runs back to attempt a Frankenstiener. Jimmy powers through and hits a vicious top turnbuckle powerbomb. Jimmy, then sets up an Usos splash and for the pinfall. After the match, The Usos show respect to their long time rivals. Smackdown’s tag team captains state they wouldn’t want to fight without their respected rivals. The New Day accept and show respect among the two teams.
Becky Lynch retorts. Surprise NXT call up. Another classic match.
The Lassinator’s choice words and a surprise opponent.
Becky lynch is welcomed like she is by any crowd. Lynch then cuts a promo on Ronda Rousey stating not only she is coming for arm. Becky is going to make Ronda her “bitch”. Lynch is now fired up and says she wants to fight, calling out anyone backstage. SAnity’s music hits and Nikki Cross throws down the gauntlet.
Becky Lynch wins via DisArmHer.
The twisted one, Nikki Cross takes Lynch by surprise with her lack of care. Gaining early control of the match, and pinning Lynch between the apron for a beating. Becky regains composure and swipes Cross’s leg on the apron. Then slings Cross in to the barrier to get an upper hand. Now inside the ring, The insane Cross goes for a quick roll up. Becky gets out and hits a Becksploder for a two count. Cross regains control and beats down Becky in the corner. However, Lynch uses Nikki’s momentum and sling her to the bottom rope. In which Nikki is spring boarded in the DisArmHer for a submission loss.
Rey Mysterio vs Andrade Cien Almas for Survivor Series team spot. Rey Mysterio wins via 619 to Dime Drop pinfall.
What another great match! For the first time in WWE broadcast, Rey Mysterio faces off against Cien Almas. It’s like WWE 2K coming to life! As usual, the two feel each other out, however Rey quickly uses his fast pace offense to gain control. Yet that control was short lived, as Almas displays his power over Rey. Almas hits a viscous elbow that make Rey see stars. With Rey in the corner, Almas goes for a flying knee. Yet the Lucha Legend dodges quickly and mounts an offense. Cien now outside, Rey attempts a Sitton on Andrade. The former NXT champion catches Rey and slings Rey in to the barriers. Now Almas is in total control, quickly squashing any offensive attempts by Mysterio.
During the break.
Andrade wears down Mysterio and has Rey in the corner. Almas attempts his double knee, but Mysterio escapes. This allows Rey to take advantage and attempt a frog splash. Almas quickly runs up the turnbuckle to meet Rey. Both fight on top of the turnbuckle, with Rey losing and now prone to a Moonsault. Andrade goes for the Moonsault and misses, then attempts a standing Moonsault a fluid motion. Rey puts his knees up to counter the great improv move. Mysterio’s hurricanranna is countered by Almas and is met with two running ring post knees. Alas, man of many masks is only down for a two count. What follows is a display of Almas’s power and Rey’s ingenuity. Ending with Mysterio hitting the 619 and the Dime Drop for the pinfall. Wow.
Smackdown’s Women’s team. Samoa Joe vs Jeff Hardy for final spot.
The women’s team complete?
Paige comes out to introduce the women’s Survivor Series team. The team includes Carmella, Naomi, Sonya Deville, Asuka, and Charlotte Flair. As Charlotte Flair’s music plays, Flair is a no show. Instead, Mandy Rose enters. Rose quickly questions Paige’s decision on the team, stating she eliminated Deville at Evolution. The Golden Goddess, then tears in to the rest of the team. Rose ends up saying too much to Naomi and receives a beating. After separating, Rose and Deville face off. With Rose retreating backstage. Is the final team set?
Jeff Hardy vs Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe wins via Coquina Clutch.
In a quick paced match both men became a highlight reel of their moves. Joe does what Joe does, methodically breaking down his opponents. With brutal holds and locks. The fight spills outside, Joe continues the beating and slings Jeff in to the barrier. However, Joe seemingly forgot how he is fighting and turns around. Jeff hops on the barrier and delivers a twisting forearm. The fight is back in the ring with Hardy in short control. Joe regains momentum with a Coquina Clutch, but Hardy counters with a sit down jawbreaker. The Enigmatic One thens climbs up for the Swanton Bomb. Samoa Joe raises his knees and quickly locks in the Coquina Clutch for the win. Shortly afterwards, an enrage Daniel Bryan attacks Joe. Samoa Joe now in the Yes Lock, Miz goes to break it up. Daniel attacks Miz, Shane shows up to break that attack up, and Bryan Judo flips McMahon. Shane totally caught off guard watches Daniel Bryan walk off in anger.
Great build up!
Unlike Raw, in which seem to take forever to build up their part of Survivor Series. Smackdown Live hit the gates running, with great matches. The in between segments didn’t feel overbearing and the show felt streamlined. Enjoy the show tonight? Let us know and sound off.
