Goldberg’s first ever SmackDown Live appearance

Tonight on SmackDown Live, a proper 24/7 title defense, a Blissful moment, Lars speaks out, a #1 contenders for the Women’s SDL title match, and the first ever Goldberg appearance on SDL!

Kofi’s homecoming. A Blissful moment. A proper 24/7 title match.

New Day vs Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn. Kofi wins via Trouble In Paradise pinfall.

SDL champion, Kofi Kingston and his New Day brother Xavier Woods start the show off. Kingston shows a video package of him visiting his birthplace, Ghana for the 1st time in 26 years. Kofi was getting overcome with emotions when talking about Ghana, then Dolph walks in. Ziggler goes on his “it should be me” promo complete with another video package. Kofi then tells Dolph that the difference between them is that he didn’t quit.

KO and Sami walk out for a match and the heels take over after a short stint by New Day, including a Unicorn Stampede. Sami works over Woods during the picture in picture break, Owens gets in and mocks a hot tag to Kofi. When officially back from break, Kofi get the hot tag and takes to the heels. Kingston lands the Trouble In Paradise on Sami Zayn for the pin fall. Before New Day can celebrate, Dolph hit both with a vicious Super Kick.

Blissful foreshadowing.

Alexa Bliss is part of the “Wild Card” rule and has her Moment of Bliss show featuring the SDL Women’s Champion, Bayley. After a few bad coffees, a spat betwenn the two, Carmella, and Charlotte Flair interrupting. We get the reasoning for this show, a #1 contenders match between Carmella, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

A proper (sort of) 24/7 title match. R-Truth vs Elias. Elias wins via knee strike pin fall. R-Truth wins title back via unseen pin fall.

Backstage we learn that R-Truth has been calling Shane McMahon, on Carmella’s phone. Carmella hands Truth her phone and he tells Shane that this title is killing him. Over the phone, Shane tells Truth that he can defend his title in a “proper match” with no one can interfere, right now. Carmella gets the phone back and learns that it is a Lumber Jack match.

We learn that his opponent is Elias and also a Lumber Jack match. R-Truth makes his way down to the ring and the match starts. Elias quickly tosses Truth out and the heels attack Truth. A beaten down Truth is rolled back in and takes a knee to the face by Elias for the pin fall. The new 24/7 champion, Elias is now without protection from the rules and is targeted by all the lumber jacks. A brawl ensues and Elias escapes, but only to come face to face with R-Truth. The Drifter escapes under the ring with R-Truth in tow and Truth resurfaces as the new 24/7 champion.

Shane “calls out” Roman. #1 contenders match for the SDL Women’s Title.

Shane always has a plan.

“The Best In The World”, Shane McMahon struts out with his new found pals The Revival. Shnae then taunts Roman Reigns “Big Dog” status. This prompts Roman to storm out and The Revival defending their new pal. Reigns hits a Superman punch on The Revival and heads towards a awaiting Shane. Drew McIntyre blindsides Roman with a Claymore Kick and drags him in to the ring. Shane then hits Roman’s finisher, the Spear and stands tall over Roman.

#1 contenders match for the SDL title. Alexa Bliss vs Carmella vs Charlotte Flair. Alexa Bliss wins via DDT pin fall.

The Queen Charlotte takes absolute control of this match early, with dumping Bliss outside, and taking it to Carmella. Alexa Bliss returns and hits a Sunset Flip Bomb on Flair, but Flair regains control again. Carmella attempts taking out Flair with a Code Of Silence, but Flair powers out. Bliss takes out Carmella then The Goddess and The Queen stare each other down.

Alexa takes it to Flair, in which is refreshing because Bliss has been dealing with WWE concussion protocols. Just as I was thinking that, Flair hits a savage Big Boot on Bliss that had me worried Alexa is going to be sent back again. Shortly afterwards, Mandy Rose and Sonya DeVille walk out taunting Carmella. This is where Flair gains control again, delivering chops to Bliss. Charlotte comes close to pinning Bliss, but Mella makes the save and Super Kicks Flair. Rose and DeVille distract Mella, allowing Bliss to hit a DDT for the pin fall.

Lars speaks. Squash match of a Dream match. Goldberg answers Undertaker.

Lars explains himself.

Kayla Braxton is the “rewarded” one in interviewing Lars Sullivan. Braxton asks why Lars is doing what he is doing and destroying the roster. Sullivan retorts with “Does anyone ask on why a nightingale sings it’s song? Does anyone ask why a lion stalks its prey and then rips their flesh out?” It is because Lars primary function is to cause destruction in his wake. Alright, this was a bit better then I anticipated. Lars is known for a few things.. His size, his anxiety problems, and his past comments. Lars allowed the crowd to tell him what they thought of him and they did. However, he finished his promo and got the job done.

Andrade vs Apollo Crews. No contest.

In what could have been a dream match, became a squash match. This could have easily been a main card on NXT TakeOver, but we get this on the main roster. Andrade works over Crews and then Finn Balor runs in and ends with a no contest. Andrade’s manager, Zelina Vega distracts Balor long enough to allow Andrade to hit the Hammerlock DDT on the Demon and walks out. *yay*

Goldberg answers Undertaker.

Goldberg walks out fo the 1st time ever on SDL and give Taker an answer. On Raw, Taker stated that he wanted the “Real” Goldberg not “Dad” Goldberg. The mythical Goldberg respones with he WILL get the wrestler Taker wants, but he is not ready for it. At this time the lights dim and Takers bell rings. The light turn back on and Taker is staring down Goldberg. The lights cut out, the bell ring, the lights come back on and Taker is gone. Goldberg laughs it off and tells Taker he’ll get what he wants at The Super Showdown PPV.
