Emma Joins a Growing Injured Reserve List

At a recent WWE live event, Tenille Averil Dashwood, better known as Emma, suffered a severe back injury during a match.

The following was reported by WWE.com;
“Emma has a ruptured disc that will require her to have surgery. She came to us in a great deal of pain, which seemed to be increasing. She was then given an M.R.I., which revealed that further action would need to be taken. Unfortunately, the Superstar’s estimated recovery time cannot be determined until after her procedure is complete.” Dr. Chris Robinson, WWE physician.

This comes at a poor time for World Wrestling Entertainment, as their roster has been ravaged by injuries over the past 12-18 months (Seth Rollins, John Cena, Randy Orton and Enzo Amore to name a few). The depleted roster is one of the obvious contributing factors of the decline in ratings since Wrestlemania.

One very poignant question remains, should WWE performers be pushing that hard in untelevised matches, where storylines and angles don’t get maximum exposure? I personally don’t think so. While I don’t advocate working ‘SAWFT’, I highly recommend that WWE performers save the harder bumps and high spots for Raw/Smackdown main events, title matches and pay-per-views. Is my assessment on point? Only time will tell.
We here at The Scrum Sports wish Emma well with her surgery and are hopeful for a speedy recovery.
