Possibly the greatest wrestling commentator of all time, WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, made his debut recently on AXStv’s English commentary for New Japan Pro Wrestling alongside Josh Barnett. The two instantly clicked and provided some excellent commentary for a solid show.
Kenny Omega of the Bullet Club retained his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Alex Shelley of the Time Splitters in one hell of a match.
Machine Gun Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows and his wife Amber of the Bullet Club were defeated Matt Taven, Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis in six person tag team action with the Bullet Club tasting defeat.
Togi Makabe, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Katsuyori Shibata met Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and Kazushi Sakuraba in what could only be described as a slobber knocker of a six man tag match with Tanahashi gaining the pinfall over his rival Yano.
Jim Ross is best suited calling hard hitting action, not so much shilling network sponsors or pushing along soap operatic storylines. Here’s hoping that good ol’ J.R. and NJPW have a long and prosperous working relationship.
