Tonight on Smackdown Live, The Man states her claim. Naomi attempts to squash Mandy Rose. The Miz vs Cesaro in great clash. A rematch between Mustafa Ali and Samoa Joe. A two out of three match between Rey Mysterio and Andrede. Let’s dive in to the SDL go home show for the Royal Rumble!
The Man opens the show. Naomi plans to squash Mandy Rose. The Miz vs Cesaro.
It begins…
The Man, Becky Lynch opens the show. Cutting a promo about how she will slap the head on every person that stands in her way from winning the title. Asuka enters, yelling at Lynch off mic. Then Flair enters, cutting a promo and coins herself “The Main Event”. Afterwards, Asuka attacks Becky, and the officials attempt to break up the fight. Asuka throws Lynch in the barriers, Becky responds by slamming Asuka on the announcer table, and delivering a jumping fist. Lynch walks away this time, only fueling the Empress fire.
Naomi vs Mandy Rose. Mandy wins via pinfall.
The crowd is treated with a video package on why these two are fighting. After the two enter the arena, Naomi attacks Rose outside, then drags Mandy in the ring to start the match. Naomi is in complete control, with Rose rolling outside. Afterwards, Rose gets back in the ring and takes it to Naomi for a short period. The Glow star seemingly breaks Mandy’s nose and it is confirmed by the quick swipes of the nose by Rose. Mandy then hits a flying knee after Sonya DeVille’s interference. Naomi regains control, but the ref is accidentally struck by Rose. This allows DeVille to interfere again, Rose slams Naomi in to the ring post and rolling her up for the win.
The Miz vs Cesaro. Cesaro wins via Neutralizer for pinfall.
Cesaro quickly takes it to The Miz, hitting hard strikes and displaying his strength. The Swiss Cyborg catches Miz in mid air and delivers a tilting back breaker. After the break, Miz in a headlock, fights out and hits the Miz kicks. The control was short lived, with Cesaro landing a fierce European Uppercut. Sheamus interferes after taking out Shane McMahon. Allowing Cesaro to land the Neutralizer for the pin. After the match, Shane attacks Sheamus and puts Cesaro on the announcer’s table. As he attempts to climb the ropes, Sheamus pushes Shane off the ropes. This leads The Bar to double team Shane and deliver the Brogue Kick to Shane. The Miz covers up Shane to attempt further damage to Shane. However, The Bar tosses Miz on the table, slams Shane through the Miz and the table.
Vince McMahons mediates AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. Mustafa Ali vs Samoa Joe rematch.
The devil himself arrives after witnessing his son driven through a table. Vince introduces Styles, and then Daniel Bryan. The New Daniel Bryan refuses to step in the ring and cuts a fantastic promo. Bryan ends the promo and claims that he is not the “People’s Champion”he is the “Planet’s Champion” *cue Captain Planet memes* Styles retort with what will Bryan be after he takes the title away from him. Daniel responds, but is cut off from Vince. The WWE owner states that he is “tired of this and step in to the ring”. Most wrestlers would do just that, however Daniel Bryan goes on a shoot like promo. Stating that Vince and all the other baby boomers will sacrifice anything for a profit. Vince repeats his demand, AJ had enough and attacks Bryan. Now in the ring, Bryan grabs Vince, halting AJ’s attack and lands a flying knee, knocking out Styles.
Mustafa Ali vs Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe wins via Coqunia Clutch.
This time around, Ali is somewhat ready for Joe. The Samoa Submission Machine quickly attacks Ali with hard strikes. The fight spills outside and Joe attempts to slam Ali in the ring post, yet Ali springs off the post and lands a body splash. Joe eventually regains control over Ali, going after Mustafa like a predator. Ali fights back for in a few exchanges, but Joe wins the rematch with the Coqunia Clutch.
The main event this week. Rey Mysterio vs Andrade Cien Almas, now just Andrade. Two out of three match. Draw via Samoa Joe interference.
Before I get into this match, let me say WOW. I can watch these two fight forever. This was a feud that should be on PPVs not free TV. However it is on free TV, along the commercial breaks. Ok rant over, let’s dive in.
Andreda quickly takes control over the smaller Rey. However the Lucha Legend has other plans, utilizing his quickness to hit a Hurricanrana on Andrade, then another from the top turnbuckle outside the ring! After the LONG commercial break, the two duke it out on the top turnbuckle. Showcasing their core strength, it ends with Andrade pulling Rey up, CLIMBING the top turn buckle, and POWER BOMBING Rey onto the mat, for the first pin fall.
Second pin fall.
Andrade could have covered Rey for a second pin fall, but the move seem to take a lot out of Andrade himself. This allow Rey to regain his composure. Something you never want to do against a legend. The two exchange for a short time with Mysterio landing a Sunset Flip Power Bomb on Andrade for the second pin fall of the match.
Fight FOREVER!!!
This epic match is interrupted by another commercial break. What was witnessed was Rey attempting his newer baseball slide to body splash on Andrade. Yet the WWE Tranquilo artist counters, then Mysterio fights back and lands a Baseball Slide POWER BOMB and a spring board Hurricanrana! Followed up by an inverted Hurricanrana on Andreda. These moves would put away any one and Rey goes for the winning pin fall. However the Samoan Submission Machince runs into the ring and decimates both men. Ending a fantastic match and feud without a clear winner. Joe is sending a message to all others in the Royal Rumble… Joe does not care, Joe is going to hurt people towards his path in winning. As upset and shocked as the fans were, there is no other way the fans would expect it.
