The journey to WWE’s Stomping Grounds continue. Big E returns to reunite New Day, Shane celebrates again, and Heavy Machinery in action. Can Nikki Cross soften up the SDL Women’s Champion, Bayley? Find out all you need to know right here.
Miz TV features Shane McMahon. A Gauntlet match. Heavy Machinery in action.
Miz TV hosts Shane and friends.
The A-Lister invites his hated rival Shane McMahon to his show. The Best In The World does not come alone, bringing Elias and Drew McIntyre in tow. Now Shane has a soundtrack for his being the “best”. After a recap of the Super Showdown, Miz points out that all of Shane’s wins are tainted. McMahon retorts with that Miz shares the same gene pool as a potato, a name Shane gives to Miz’s father. This enrages Miz and he goes to face off against Shane, but Drew steps in between them. Shane then states if he wants to fight, they will. But Miz has to fight and win against Elias and Drew McIntyre.
Miz vs Elias. Miz wins via Skull Crushing Finale pin fall.
This was a quick match considering the promo beforehand took up about 15 minutes of a 2 hour show. So it starts off Elias powering over Miz, but of course Miz fights back. After Elias hits Miz with an Electric Chair to Spinning Power Bomb and attempts the Drift Away. The Miz counters and hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the pin fall.
Drew McIntyre vs Miz. Drew wins via Claymore kick pin fall.
Drew quickly gets in to the ring, but we cut to commercial. After the break, Drew is on top of Miz hit hard hits. The Miz fights back with some knee strikes, but Drew regains and hits a nice snap suplex. Shane then interferes when Miz was in control, this leads for Drew to hit the Claymore on Miz for the pin fall. Well, guess Miz will not get his shot at Shane. However, Shane being the gracious competitor grants Miz his match after being leveled by Drew. Shane takes his shots on Miz, but the Miz fights back giving the crowd hope. Yet the “Best In The World” locks Miz in a Triangle Hold and taps him out. *sigh*
Heavy Machinery makes a case.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan walk out to unify titles. The SDL Tag Team titles with the “YOLO County” titles. That are held by local talent AJ Kirsh and Dave Dutra. Heavy Machinery comes out to confront Bryan/Rowan on avoiding them. So Bryan tells Heavy Machinery that they didn’t do anything to earn a shot. Heavy Machinery then challenges the YOLO champs.
Heavy Machinery vs YOLO champs. Heavy Machinery wins via Compacter pin fall.
In a quick squash match, Heavy Machinery over powers the local talent. Hitting a Caterpillar and the Compactor for the win. One line that did stand out for me was the commentary team yelled out “We haven’t seen this in awhile!”. Yeah, the audience knows… now it’s being force fed to us. But alas, at least we are seeing some action.
Carmella vs Sonya DeVille Alexa Bliss attempts to soften up Bayley. Poor R-Truth.
Sonya DeVille vs Carmella. DeVille wins via Step Up Knee Strike for pin fall.
After some backstage antics, in which we will recap later. Carmella and Sonya DeVille face off. Carmella goes straight for the jugular, hitting a big drop kick, a Franksteiner and a Lou Thesz Press. The latter doesn’t connect fully and Sonya breaks free. DeVille now hits fierce strikes on Carmella, knee strikes, boots and slaps. Mella fights back and locks in the Code Of Silence, however Mandy Rose grabs Sonya’s foot to put it on the ropes. Mella realizing what happen, chases Rose around the ring. With Mella diving back in to the ring, Sonya hits a Step Up Knee to drop Mella and gain the victory.
Bayley vs Nikki Cross. Bayley wins via Elbow Drop pin fall.
Before the match Alexa Bliss was pumping up Cross on how Bayley is a real evil person on social media. Of course Cross buys in to it and wants to fight Bayley for it. At first, Cross is on control with her insane ways. Bayley regains and dropkicks Cross on to the floor. Bayley then lands a jumping, sliding dropkick on Cross and on the second attempt Cross counter. Nikki wraps up Bayley witht ring apron and delivers a beating.
the fight goes back in after the break, with Cross putting Bayley in the Tree Of Woe and stretching her neck with a boot. Bayley finally gains control hits a running knee on Cross, then a Elbow Drop for the win.
R-Truth goes on a trip.
Before the Carmella vs Sonya DeVille match, R-Truth was telling Carmella again on how the 24/7 title is killing him, but he can’t give it up. Carmella and Truth her some voice, Mella tell Truth to get in a sound stage box. The box ends up locking and Mella having to go to fight her match. Jinder Mahal walks by and hears Truth plead for help. In Jinder’s “best” Carmella impersonation, he tells Truth to hold on as he grabs a crowbar. After the Carmella/Sonya match, Jinder goes to free Truth. But all the sound stage boxes are in route to L.A. Jinder grabs the first flight out to L.A, Mella is confused on where Truth is and Truth is on a new trip.
Six man tag team match.
New Day vs Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens/Dolph Ziggler. Kofi Kingston wins via Trouble In Paradise pin fall.
Big E returns with beating down Sami and New Day celebrating. After the introduction is calmed, the heels took over. With Woods the legal man, the heel team took turns in beating down Xavier and isolating him from New Day. Woods finally fought back after the break and hot tagged in Big E. The muscle of New Day then takes it to the heels, but falls to a Ziggler knee shot to the head. Sami blind tags in and Kofi is hot tagged in. Kingston blasts Ziggler with a Trouble In Paradise, thinking he was the legal man. However, when Sami attempted to cash in on the distraction, Kofi lands another Trouble In Paradise for the pin fall.
The round up.
This show was alright, slightly better then Raw’s offering. With only two weeks to build up Stomping Grounds, WWE needs to put in high gear. But alas, I’m sure WWE will be spinning it’s wheels to attempt to build up the next PPV. It’s a shame with all the talent WWE possesses, that they can’t string together four on air shows that entices the fans to watch their next PPV.
