Dolph Ziggler vs Xavier Woods. Ziggler wins via Super Kick pin fall.
After New Day opens the show and Big E has a proposal on the final hour of SDL, “The Freaky Hour”. We will never know what was going to follow the “slip and slide”, because Ziggler interrupts with his “it should of been me!” promo and Shortly the match is underway.
The match starts off with a grappling stalemate between the two. Ziggler and Woods decide to shove it out, with Xavier getting a drop toehold on Dolph. Woods follows up with a dropkick on a draped Ziggler on the second ropes. The two go back and forth, Woods lands an Honor Roll and goes to the top turnbuckle. However, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn run in to interfere and leading to the rest of New Day, Sami and KO being booted from ringside.
During the picture in picture commercial break, Ziggler works over Woods. Just before the show kicks back in, Xavier desperately attempts to regain control. Xavier hits Dolph with a couple of flying forearms and a beautiful Military Press to Gut Buster combo. The fight spills on the ring apron and Dolph hits Woods with a Super Kick. Back in the ring Dolph hits the Zig Zag, but he is not done. Ziggler attempts to tie up Xavier in ropes but cannot, so Dolph drapes Xavier over the ropes and hits a Super Kick to make a statement and pin fall.
Emotional promo.
Alexa Bliss invites SDL Women’s Champion, Bayley on to her show. The Goddess demands her coffee. Bayley arrives with the coffee and drinks it. The two then exchange with Bliss stating that the only one who was nice to her was Charlotte Flair and reached out to Bayley. The Hugger retorts that Bliss only latches on to people to further her career. They continue until Bayley loses it and attacks Bliss, Nikki Cross breaks up the brawl allowing Bliss to blindside Bayley.
Heavy Machinery vs B-Team. Heavy Machinery wins via Compacter pin fall.
Before the match Shelton Benjamin and B-Team discuss on how they would benefit from helping Baron Corbin. Matt Hardy walks out of Corbin’s office and tell Senor Benjamin he’s next, Shelton corrects him and says it’s Mr Benjamin.
Afterwards the match starts with Tucker vs Hawkins. Knight take it to Curtis, but Hawkins fights back and tags in Bo Dallas. After a nice pop up the path is cleared for Tucker to tag in Otis. The big fun one hits a big Spinning body slam on Dallas. Bo attempts to continue his offence, but each hit powers up the Dozer. Otis goes in to overdrive, hitting a fall away slam and crushes B-Team in the corner. Up next, it’s time for the CATERPILLAR!! Tucker and Otis then hit the Compacter for the pinfall. But wait, there’s more… Shortly after B-Team losing, Seth Rollins shows up and beat the B-Team relentlessly. Again making the statement that if you side with Baron, you are going to get a beat down.
A tag team reunited. Big implications for a WWE Tokyo show. WWE champions team up.
Miz admits fault for Shane.
The Prodigal Son, Shane McMahon arrives. However, before he can even step in the arena Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn confront him. Sami and KO state that Rollins is on a rampage, a bad person and Kofi is a bad person too. Shane retorts with, if the are bad people the BFF’s should face off against them in a two out of three falls match, to teach them a lesson.
Shane then walks into the ring flanked by his crew of Drew and Elias. McMahon tells ring announcer Hamilton to save his grand introduction, because the world already knows that he is the best. Just as Shane goes on his promo, The Miz shows up and has a confession. The Miz admits that it’s all his fault, Miz states it’s because of him that Shane forgot what SDL was originally about, the Land of Opportunity.
Miz, the A-Lister tells the audience that it now the land of Shane’s pals. Shane had enough and tells that the Miz has a tag match with his lackeys Drew and Elias. However, Miz has only 10 seconds to find a partner. Miz spots R-Truth and makes him tag team partner, reunited The AWESOME TRUTH!!
The Awesome Truth vs Elias/Drew McIntyre, Elimination match. Drew McIntyre wins via Claymore Kick on Miz for pin fall.
For some reason the 24/7 rule is not in effect, but was not announced. Oh well, let’s dive into the action. Miz works over Elias for a bit and then Drew. R-Truth then is tagged in to fight Drew, after a few Truth signature move, McIntyre lays out Truth. The Shane Heels work over Truth and gets a quick two count. After distractions from Shane and Elias, The Drifter tags in. McMahon hits a cheap shot in which allows Elias to pin R-Truth. A slew of stars now storm the ring, in an attempt to grab the 24/7 title.
Shelton Benjamin grabs the title not fully understanding the rules. The ref stops him and explains the at R-Truth has to be pinned or submit, Truth grabs the title from the distraction and flees. The commotion allows Miz to heal up a bit and he takes it to Elias. The A-Lister unloads on Elias with the It Kicks, but the Drifter catches the last kick and hoist Miz on his shoulders looking for the Electric Chair Drop. Miz slides down and goes only gets a two count.
The ref now distracted long enough for Drew to hit a fierce Glasgow Kiss. In which sets up Miz to taste the Claymore Kick for the pin fall. Shortly afterwards, Shane props up Miz for not one but two more Claymore Kicks to make a statement to Roman Reigns, in which Drew will be fighting at Stomping Grounds.
WWE Tokyo show has implications.
Backstage the IIconics gloat over their titles and run into Asuka/Kari Sane/Paige. The manger of the Kabuki Warriors state that if the duo wins in Tokyo, they will have earned a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
NEW CHAMPION!
Before the main event, R-Truth is escaping the arena via Uber. The driver steps put to be a ref and R-Truth is asking why a ref is driving his Uber. However, Drake Maverick posing as Carmella takes off his wig and rolls up Truth to win the 24/7 title. Drake exclaims that he is going to Vegas to get married as a champion. R-Truth still confused, asks why is Carmella getting married and why he wasn’t invited.
Seth Rollins/Kofi Kingston vs Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn Two out of Three match. 1st pin fall by Kofi Kingston’s Trouble in Paradise pin fall. Final pin fall by Seth Rollins Curb Stomp.
Right out the gate, Kofi hits his Trouble in Paradise on Sami Zayn for the quick pin fall. The heels complained that the bell wasn’t even rung, however it still stands as a pin fall. The following bout was longer but not as exciting. Back from break, Rollins goes on a rampage with his Sling Blade and a Spring Board. But KO counters with a big slam, the cameras cut to Paul Heyman watching backstage. Zayn now is legal and works over Seth, however Seth fights back with a Blockbuster and hot tags Kofi in. The SDL champ hits lariats, dropkicks, and a Boom Drop only to get a two count.
Sami Zayn then counters another spring board with his Blue Thunder Driver for a two count. Zayn tags in KO but Kofi springs to hot tag Rollins. After a Suicide Dive onto the BFF’s, Rollins lands a Buckle Bomb, Enzuigiri, and Curb Stomp on Owens to win the second pin fall.
An ok “Go Home Show”.
After the fresh of breath air that was RAW, SDL seemed to play it safe. Although I enjoyed some of the future planning segments like the Tokyo show, it was just safe. With a WWE ppv lacking any real interest amongst fans and smarks. WWE could’ve experimented with some outlandish entertainment. But alas, they kept it safe and the fans are treated to WWE”s Rematch Grounds… I mean Stomping Grounds, in witch they kick things and take things.
