Franklin heading to Brewers
Former Tampa Bay Rays infielder Nick Franklin has been claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers. Franklin was DFA’d last week to make room for Daniel Robertson on the opening day roster.
INF/OF Nick Franklin claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay and expected to report on Friday. RHP Michael Blazek designated for assignment.

In his four seasons at the big-league level he has seen time at almost every position on the diamond. The move provides Milwaukee with some insurance in the event that Domingo Santana does not work in left field or Eric Thames struggles at first base.
The Brewers have a highly-regarded prospect in Orlando Arcia playing shortstop. The addition of Franklin may help with his development.
Ryan Braun may not be with the team much longer and once he is gone they will be without a true veteran presence. Second baseman Jonathan Villar is they only other stater for the Brew Crew that has as much experience as Franklin does.
