2016’s Most Valuable Player is also the best player in NFL history to sport the number two. Matt Ryan was the rookie of the year in 2008 and was the first rookie quarterback to lead his team to the postseason (Joe Flacco also did it the same year.) He was elected as a team captain in his second season behind the helm and has enjoyed plenty of NFL success.
At just 32 years old, Ryan seems to only be getting better as the years flow by, setting career highs in yardage (4,944) and touchdown passes and a career low in interceptions (7). All on his way to a near Super Bowl win (28-3!) and his first MVP season.
Matt has only missed two starts in his eight year career and holds numerous Falcons franchise records. Ryan has recorded 32,757 yards through the air so far in his career to go with 202 touchdowns. He was given the nickname Matty Ice for his uncanny ability to lead his team back from deficits late in games.
Honorable Mention: Aaron Brooks
