Welcome to the Brew Crew!
The Tampa Bay Rays did not see Nick Franklin as a fit for the club this season and so, out-of-options, they DFA’d the former first-round pick. Top-prospect Daniel Robertson is better defensively and the Rays value defensive depth more than anything. Starting shortstop Matt Duffy is on the DL (ankle) for at least two more weeks.
Franklin did not clear waivers, however. On April 5, the Brewers came calling. he was claimed by the Brewers. Saturday night he managed to clear something…the fence – in his first game as a member of the Brewers. His fourth inning home run against the Cubs tied the game at four.
Welcome to the Crew, Nick Franklin! His HR makes this a #BrandNewBallGame in the 4th! We’re now tied at 4. #MILvsChC pic.twitter.com/pOQuH0nXCf

A Week of Firsts
The home run gives Franklin just as many hits this season as his replacement in Tampa Bay. Robertson collected his first big-league hit on Friday night. Robertson has made just one start so far this season.
