Farewell tour for the Shield at FastLane 2019

As the last stop for WrestleMania, FastLane featured twists, beatings, and a feel good moment. Will the Shield go out with a bang? Will Kofi Kingston get what he deserves? Can The World’s Greatest Tag Team Shane and The Miz, win the title in Miz’s hometown? Let’s find out on the our reacp of FastLane 2019 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The kick off match. Smackdown Tag Title match. Smackdown Women’s Title match.

New Day (Big E/Xavier Woods) vs Shinsuke Nakamura/Rusev. New Day wins via Up Up Down Down pinfall.

Before this solid match that kicked things off, Kofi was called to the McMahon’s office. Allowing only Big E and Woods to face off against Nakamura and Rusev. The Brutal Artists withstand an early offensive stint mounted by New Day, it was ended by a ferocious kick that planted a flying Woods. Now in control, Rusev and Nakamura worl over Woods with hard strikes and tag moves. Eventually, Woods musters up enough energy to hot tag Big E in. The Powerhouse of New Day, take out both heels and turns New Day looks to be gelling at the right moment. Woods now tagged in avoids a Kinsasha and tags Big E back in and they continue to fight off the assault from the Brutal Artists and Lana’s interference. Rusev locks in Woods in the Accolade, Big E tosses Nakamura in the time keepers area, and breaks the hold. Allowing New Day to hit Up UP Down Down for the pinfall.

Champions Usos vs The Miz/Shane McMahon SDL Title match. The Uso’s retain titles via roll up pinfall.

The hometown hero, The Miz along with Shane McMahon enter the ring. Miz, decked out in the NFL’s Cleveland Browns colors, is lapping up every second of having the opportunity to fight for the title in front of his hometown. Before the Champions enter, The Miz’s father is at ringside to cheer on his son. The Uso’s arrive to an unusual mix of cheers and boos, but hey.. it’s the Miz’s hometown.

The match begins with Shane and Jimmy Uso, Shane surprisingly quickly take control over the match. Landing jabs, hip tosses, and side Russian Leg Sweep. The Miz is tagged in as Shane and Miz hit a double Shane Shuffle on Jimmy in the turnbuckle. Jimmy gets a tag in to Jey, in which is met with a big boot. The Uso’s finally gain control with a blind tag and a Flying body splash by Jimmy. Multiple headbutts from Jimmy slows down the match and now the champs dissect Shane McMahon.

With Shane receiving most of the beating from the Uso’s, the challengers hopes to seem to be fading. Then Shane hits a big DDT and hot tags Miz in. The Prodigal Son  quickly takes out the Uso’s with It Kicks and double knees, send the Uso’s outside. The newly fearless Miz, launches himself off the top turnbuckle and hits a bodysplash outside the ring. Back in the ring, Uso’s land a blind tag and a big pop up Samoan Drop on Miz for two. After a double Super Kick, Shane breaks up the pin. Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on Jimmy, but the ref was distracted.

 The end and the aftermath.

After the close pinfall, Miz goes for the Figure Four but is countered but recounters the Doomsday Machine. Miz is rocked by a big kick, but regains to attempt a superplex on Jey. The Uso twin drapes the Miz across the ropes, Shane now climbs atop of the turnbuckle looking for the Coast to Coast. But Jey has a different idea, climbs the opposite turnbuckle and they have a standoff. Jey goes for the bodysplash and Shane intercepts him in mid air, leading a a pile of broken bodies. Miz climbs up for a finishing bodysplash, but is met with Jey’s knees and is rolled up for the pinfall.

After the match, The Miz attends to Shane’s injuries while apologizing. Shane raises Miz’s hand and the meet up with Miz’s dad, then Shane attacks Miz, beating down the hometown hero. After tearing off the Cleveland shirt and choking Miz it, Shane locks Miz in a Triangle Hold and chokes out Miz.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka vs Mandy Rose. Asuka wins via Asuka Kick pinfall.

In a semi squash match, Asuka quickly takes control over the match, landing her well known hard strikes. Sonya DeVille is at ringside and interferes consistently, but the Empress of Tomorrow always regains composure. Mandy lands a couple of knees throughout the match and seemingly botches a counter to Asuka’s Octopus hold. I said seemingly because at the end of the match, Sonya flips the ring apron up and retrieves a kendo stick. Things are looking that Sonya is going to run in, but Mandy runs the ropes and slips on the upturned apron. Allowing the champ to hit her vicious Asuka Kick for the pinfall. Could WWE be capitalizing on the fans saying that Rose got her shot too early and is too green to be in the ring with the likes of one the best female wrestlers in the world? Eh, I may be looking at this too hard.

Kofi gets his wish. The Raw Tag Team Triple Threat title match. Fatal 4-Way U.S Championship match.

Kofi Kingston vs The Bar, 2 on 1 Handicap Match. The Bar win via Double White Noise pinfall

Kofi is standing at the McMahon’s door and his teammates The New Day barge in ahead of him pleading a case for Kofi to get his title shot. Vince agrees, but New Day is barred from the ring. With Kofi awaiting in what he thinks is Keven Owens and the SDL Champion Daniel Byran, the ring announcer is interrupted to be told this will be a 2 on 1 Handicap match vs The Bar.

As you may think the way this match will turn out, it did. The Bar just systematically, cruelly, and just not nice pick apart Kofi. The high flying underdog desperately attempted to fight back, but to no avail, The Bar just beats him down. The crowd start to chant “this is boring”, then The New Day ignores Vince’s stipulation and arrive to help their swindled brother. Nakamura and Rusev attack Neew Day from behind and The Bar hits the Double White Noise for the pinfall, ending this misery.

Triple Threat Match for Raw Tag Team Titles. The Champions Revival vs Aleister Black/Ricochet vs Booby Roode/Chad Gable

Arguably the best pure team in WWE, the Rival, won the titles a mere weeks ago. Now they have to defend it against a pool of super talented wrestlers. Ricochet and Gable start off the match after a brief brawl. Gable attempts a succession of German Suplexes, but Ricochet counters the last suplex and hits a pop up head scissor to drop kick combo. Dash from the Revival blind tags in and hits a combo suplex on Ricochet. The Future of Flight becomes the sacrificial lamb to the other tag teams move set and is grounded for most of the match.

Slowly Ricochet fights back and eventually, Black is hot tagged in. Aleister goes on a rampage, hitting hard strikes, which include a fierce front kick, and using Roodes elbow to take out Dash. Black hits a spring board Moonsault on Roode, setting up the Black Mass. However, Roode uses Black’s set up to have Dawson get tagged with the Black Mass and lands a big Spinebuster on Black. Roode calls out to Gable for tag move, Aleister counter flips out and lands double knees on Roode.

Insane ending.

Gable takes out Ricochet at ring side with a rolling kick. Chad Gable then rams Black in to the Revival’s corner, Dash blind tags in, Gable hits a wheel barrow suplex, while Dash lands a body splash on Gable , and Ricochet landing a Moonsault!! WOW. Ricochet sends all but Dawson outside the ring. Dawson and Ricochet fight on top of the turnbuckle, with Ricochet hitting a Huricanrana on Dawson, on top of everyone else! Again.. WOW! Broken bodies are strewn along the ground, and Ricochet rolls Dawson back in the ring.

Roode sends Black in the barrier, Ricochet see it and goes to save his with a Flying Crockscrew OVER the corner post! Gable tags Ricochet in mid air, but is awe of what Ricochet did. Gable gathers himself to face off against Dawson, but the Revival hit the Shatter Machine for the pinfall. After the match, all three team continue to fight, but Ricochet and Black stand tall after landing Black Mass and the 630 splash.

Fatal 4-Way U.S Championship match. Champion Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio vs Andrade vs R-Truth. Samoa Joe retains via Coquina Clutch.

This was a fun match, it doesn’t matter we saw this a few times already. This core of Joe, Mysterio, Andrade, and yes, R-Truth seem to give visceral, high flying, and entertaining match. Just like how Joe won the title earlier this week with fierce shots, Joe starts it of again with a big Suicide Dive on three men. Now everyone is back in the ring and the pace is picked up, Rey and Andrade face off, and R-Truth takes out Joe with the stairs. Truth faces off against Andrade, the two lock up and Rey hits a Huricanrana on both men. Rey has the momentum and goes to sunset flip powerbomb R-truth, but Joe takes both men out with clothesline.

Joe starts to take apart the opponents locking in Coquina Clutch on Truth, Mysterio breaks it up and attempts a 619. Samoa Joe catches Rey and attempts a running powerbomb on Rey. The Masked Warrior recounters with a spinning DDT for a two count. Rey climbs the turnbuckle and Andrade mets him up there. Landing hard shots, Truth gets Andrade on his shoulders and Rey hits another Huricanrana. Truth goes for pin, but Rey hits a leg drop to break it up.

The fight spills outside, Andrade lands a beautiful spinning drop on Joe and Rey hits another fantastic Huricanrana on Andrade. Zelina hits a Super Kick on Truth and Carmella takes Zelina out. Joe hits a Samoan Driver on Rey, but Truth and Andrade break up the count. R-Truth channels his idol John Cena and lands the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Joe. All this leads to Rey hitting the 619 on Joe, Mysterio attempts the Dime Drop, but rolls away and locks in the Coquina Clutch for win.

Women’s Tag Title match. WWE Heavyweight Championship match. The Man vs The Queen.

Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks/Bayley vs Nia Jax/Tamina. Banks/Bayley retain via roll up pinfall.

All this match was a lead up to another story angle and kept Babks/Bayley looking strong. The Hugger Bayley takes on Tamina at start, and starts off strong. However the heels regain composure focus attacking Bayley. Eventually, Banks gets the hot tag and strings together a set of offense. However, Snuka sends Sasha Banks in to Nia Jax for an ugly Samoan Drop. Bayley gets a tag in after the pummeling Banks took and lays out Tamina and Jax. Tamina saves the match temporally with a break up, but it did not last long when Bayley hits a headscissors roll up on Jax for the win.

Hall Of Famer Beth Pheonix was special guest commentator for the match and witnessed the sore losers attack Bayley and Banks after the loss. Snuka then eyes Beth as the Glamazon stands up and unloads a shot on Tamina. The crowd erupts, but the combo on Jax and Snuka are too much for Pheonix. Best friend to all baby faces, Natty Heart runs in for the save. However, again the duo of destruction are too powerful and takes them out.

WWE Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs Kevin Owens vs Mustafa Ali. Bryan retains via Knee Strike pinfall.

Mustafa Ali gets his chance after missing out on the Elimination Chamber due to injury and Vince wanting to screw over Kofi Kingston. The crowd deafens the arena with “WE WANT KOFI” chants, but alas that match should be booked for WrestleMania. The match start off with KO and Ali quickly taking out the Planet’s Champ, Bryan. Now just a one on one match the two exchange moves and Bryan sneaks in chops on KO. Bryan is back outside as Ali and Owens go at it again, leading to Ali covering KO and Bryan breaking it up.

Bryan now in control over Ali, as the crowd continues to chant “KOFI!”. KO gets back in the match and Ali dodges and lands a Suicide Dive on Daniel,  and Owens landing a Cannonball on Ali. The Heart of 205 Live gets taken out by a sickening dropkick by Bryan from the top turnbuckle. Daniel now lands chops and kicks on Owens. However, The Prizefighter turns things around for a short time.

Yes, they deserve to be here.

Bryan flips out of a tackle and hits the former Yes Kicks, Ali flies in to break up the count. Ali is rewarded by his share of the Yes Kicks. Ali fights back but is turned inside out by Bryan. Owens back up, delivers Cannonballs and Super Kicks to both men. Owens attempts a superplex on Owens, Ali enters and hits a Spanish Fly on Bryan. Ali then goes for the 054 on KO, but Owens hits the KO Stunner. Bryan and Owens brawl, KO misses the Stunner and Bryan receives a pop up Powerbomb. After dropping Owens on the ring apron, Daniel misses a double knee strike, allowing a frog splash on Bryan on the ring apron.

Rowan now enters but is Super Kicked by Owens and Ali, Mustafa hits Huricanrana, and Owens hits a Senton on Rowan. Bryan and Ali go at it outside with Ali hitting a Flying DDT on Bryan. Owens is taken out by Rowan, and Bryan covers Ali for two. After a verbal bashing by Bryan, Ali fights back but is caught in mid air by a Double Knee for the pinfall.

Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair for title opportunity at WrestleMania. Becky Lynch wins via Disqualification and now is included in the WrestleMania Women’s title match.

The Man started off strong despite her injured knee. However, it wouldn’t last as the Queen Flair eventually regained control and targeted the injured knee. Just like Corey Graves said “Charlotte is just dissecting Becky Lynch’s knee at this point” and it was almost unbearable to watch. Lynch finally found a stint of offence for a near fall, but Flai kicked out, hits a Fall Away slam, and rams Becky in to the barrier. Back in the ring, Flair attempts a Moonsault and Lynch pushes Flair in to the barrier. Flair barely beats the 10 count, and Lynch locks in the Dis-arm-Her. However, Flair reverses it with Figure Eight lock. Evil Ronda Rousey walks out and attacks Lynch, earning a DQ win for Lynch and The Man is headed to WrestleMania. Rousey gets her wish to much of Flair’s dismay.

Last concert for the Band?

The Shield vs Baron Corbin/Bobby Lashley/Drew McIntyre. The Shield wins Via Triple Powerbomb pinfall.

Sometimes life writes a better story than anyone. With the once booed Roman Reigns returning from his second bout with Leukemia and winning, and his long time friend Dean Ambrose leaving the WWE in a month. There was only one thing left to do, get the band back together and give us fans one last Shield moment and play the greatest hits.

After the Mid Cards of Evil enter, The Shield’s music hits and the crowd goes nuts. Lashley and Seth start off the match after a short brawl and The Shield standing tall. Both lock up and Lashley quickly over powers Rollins. Seth in the corner as Corbin is tagged in, but get to taste Seth’s boot. Dean is tagged in and hits a tag move with Rollins. Drew is now legal and takes a beating as Roman is tagged in.

Roman now faces off against McIntyre and the crowd is behind Roman. Drew does what few guys can do to Roman, overpower him. It was short lived as Reigns slaps the taste out of Drews mouth and tags in Rollins. Seth gets going but is kicked in mid air halting the rally. The Military Colossus, Lashley just rag dolls Seth and tags Corbin. The fight quickly devolves in to a straight up brawl, and the crowd loves it.

Fights everywhere and anywhere.

Lashley and Corbin takes out Roman and Seth with barrier shots and Drew hits a Claymore on Dean, sending him outside. Ambrose gets back in and gets double team from the evil trio. The fight spills outside with Suicide Dives by Seth and Dean. Roman Sends Corbin outside and attempts a dive of his own. However, Corbin intercepts Roman and hits the Deep Six for near fall. Now it is just chaos as the ref loses control and Dean running across the tables to tkae out Lashley.

Back in the Ring, Roman and Baron trade shots and ending with Corbin ramming Roman in to the ring post. Meanwhile Lashley/Drew and Dean/Seth brawl at the Kick off Show set. Dean plants Drew in a seat and beats him down. In the ring, Baron attempts a superplex but Roman fights out and powerbombs Corbin. Back outside, Lashley/Drew props Dean on a table and Dean attempts to fight back with a flying body splash. Ambrose is caught in mid air, but Rollins flies from the stands and takes out everyone.

Back in the ring, Roman hits a Superman punch for a two count. Now everyone is back to the ring and Reigns delivers Superman Punches to all. Corbin hits The End of Days on Roman, with Seth breaking the count. Corbin instruct Lashley and Drew to prepare the table for a Triple Powerbomb on Roman. Dean and Rollins pounce and break its up. Lashley attempts to slam Rollins in the table. However, Roman Superman punches Lashley and Seth hits the Curb Stomp. Rollins flies towards Drew and Roman hits a spear on Corbin.

Playing the hits.

The Hounds Of Justice swarm over their foes and hits their Triple Powerbomb through the table on McIntyre. The crowd chants “ONE MORE TIME!” and who would’ve thought they do requests? Corbin all alone in the ring, the crowd chanting “THIS IS AWESOME!” and The Shield surrounding him. The Shield plays all of their greatest hits on Corbin. Super Kick by Rollins, Superman Punch by Roman, Dirty Deeds by Ambrose, and the finale The Triple Powerbomb for the pinfall.

Will this be the last time we will see The Shield together? Probably not, but if so it was fitting good bye to a dominate faction that is known as The Shield.
