Behind the barricade: Greatest Parking Lot Match EVER and the end, for now

This week in Behind the barricade, the Greatest Parking Lot Match EVER! A WWE legend teases one more match. Jeff Hardy resigns with WWE, under one condition. Wade Barrett is the new voice of NXT! A WWE legend teases one more match! Former WWE Champion resigns with the WWE!? A message from The Scrum Sports. All of this, plus the “good”, the “bad”, and the “*What the bleep?!*” of pro wrestling this week.

The Good:

Holy heck, AEW!

Not only this weeks episode of AEW’s Dynamite was top tier, but it featured one of THE greatest Parking Lot matches…EVVVEERR!! Santana/Ortiz and Best Friends took a mid card match and elevated it into a mind blowing match! There was at least six cars surrounding them. The two teams destroyed all of the cars with each others bodies! Suplex into a car, yup. PowerBomb into a car, yeah. Double PowerBomb into a car window.. again yes. This was a beautifully crafted match, that boarded on extreme matches and not too violent to welcome main stream fans. At the end, The Best Friends reigned supreme and Trent’s mom, Sue paused to give the finger. If you are a smark or not, and yet have not seen this match, Go now! I implore it!

AEW.. again.

This weeks episode of Dynamite was just stellar. Yes, it may have gotten off the wrong foot in at the start. However, after The Young Bucks Super Kicked a ref, the show was on! From story line progression, to excellent matches, like Adam Page vs Frank Kazarian. Kaz always proves himself in the ring. However, the story dynamic between Omega and Page was excellent. Add in Thunder Rosa and Ivelisse match, in which AEW’s champion Hikaru Shida makes the save. Also Eddie Kingston tells The Blade to “get his house in order”, was marvelous! In case you do not know, The Blade’s wife has become Allie and is dating The Nightmare family’s QT Marshall. This has soap opera feels all over it and I dig it!

The rise of Shotzi.

Shotzi Blackheart faced of against the Mother of all beasts, Io Shirai. I am torn between this match. Was this match so great because of Shotzi’s rise or the fact Io can make a great match with anyone? I answer… yes. This match was not only the best match of NXT, but could’ve been a big PPV match! Io retains the title, but both ladies stomp kicked more room into our hearts. If you haven’t seen this match, DO IT NOW… please. Shotzi and Io are poised to take over whatever WWE brand they are on. Hopefully, WWE creative has plenty of great bookings for them when they do hit the big shows.

SmackDown’s character development.

Right now.. and has been for awhile, SmackDown has been the better of the Red and Blue brands. Case in point, the character development of Roman Reigns and Alexa Bliss. Roman is a heel and still shows his cousin Jey Uso love, but at the same time, displeasure. Bliss on the other hand is flipping in between regular Bliss and in trance Alexa. With only a key word turning her, the word is The Fiend. Hats off to these two for giving their angles credit.

The Bad:

Monday no fun day.

Raw has been slightly better then the past few weeks. However, the bar was low. Again this week was sub par. The only interesting was Rey Mysterio’s daughter, Aalyah concern’s for Murphy. This was after Seth Rollins lost to Dominick in a steel cage match and Seth beat down Murphy. Add in the confusing brawl between The Hurt Business and Retribution. Makes this Raw feel.. empty.

NXT mostly fails.

Aside the fantastic match between IO and Shotzi, NXT felt average. I really only say this for a few reasons. Like AEW knocked out of the park. Tomasso Ciampa was booked as not as the beaten staple of NXT. But a cookie cutter heel, crushing his opponent. Why is Ciampa in squash matches, when he should be smashing bigger name stars? Breezango pulled off a serious clean win, but didn’t fell clean. All in all, NXT was on the brink of greatness, but only Io and Shotzi delivered.

*What the bleep?!*.

Mickie was just too good at selling.

On Raw, WWE’s Women’s Champion, Asuka fought Mickie James. This could be seen as a fanboy/gal’s dream match. Well, it wasn’t, as James was “not able to continue”. Very early reports rumored that Mickie was injured. However, now it is stated that James was so great at selling the Asuka-Lock, that the higher ups called the match. Yup! This match was called off, because the sell job was too good. If that doesn’t a *what the bleep?!*, I don’t what does.

The news.

One more match?

During an episode of WWE’s show The Bump, WWE’s most celebrated women’s superstar, Trish Stratus addressed the interest of a match. That match is against The Boss, Sasha Banks. Trish is quoted as..

“I love and respect Sasha so much, I love her in-ring work … would I love to taste that? Yes, I would. Look, here’s the thing, people are buzzing about Sasha and I, we’ve basically had a five minute interaction at Royal Rumble. That was what began the buzz, that’s been two years straight of people just buzzing about it and dreaming and hoping. As a wrestling fan do I think this is intriguing? Absolutely. I think it’s a pretty awesome idea, to be honest. That’s all I’ve got to say about that guys.”

Could this be a tease for a huge PPV match? Especially if Banks is wearing gold and WWE is allowed to have fans back in arenas, this may be booked. What do you all think about this? Should it happen, should be only for the triumphant return of a live crowd? Let us know in the comments!

One voice of NXT out, another in.

The rumors of Wade Barrett discussing a new contract with WWE has been confirmed. As the Bearer of Bad News signed a new contract with WWE. Wade’s hard work has paid off and he will be the new voice of NXT. Replacing Mauro Ranallo, Wade (Stu) will join Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix on commentary. Barrett is quoted as..

“I hope this lasts for a long time, that’s our intent,”.

So do the fans Stu.. so do the fans.

Jeff Hardy re-signs.

The Enigmatic One is on the WWE books for a bit longer, as Jeff Hardy resigns with the WWE. However, one the most compelling promises that Vince and company promised is.. Jeff will get to use his “No More Words” entrance song. Jeff stated..

“No More Words, when we do get in front of a crowd again, that was a part of me re-signing. I’m like, ‘If we get in front of people again, I’d like to use No More Words again because I know y’all own it.’ That was the deal for me re-signing. That’s gonna be the ticket when we get back in front of crowds. That’s going to boost me even more. To hear that music again…I think the Hardy Boyz music is just for Matt and Jeff Hardy, not just Jeff Hardy.”

Well, If Jeff got this stipulation in his contract, what else? Maybe a return of his TNA gimmick, Willow? As it stands now, we will have to wait and see. However, who would love to see a Willow vs The Fiend match?! This guy does!

Former WWE Champion signs on.. or not?

The champion in question is none other than Melina Perez. That’s right, former Melina was reported from various outlets that she has resigned with the WWE. However, The former champion’s has responded with this.

“I AM NOT signed with the WWE. But that doesn’t mean it is not a possibility. My reason for this post is that it bothers me that these sites lie to fans.”  and..

“I don’t know what my future will hold but I know 2020 has taken so much from me. From all of us. Going back home to the WWE would feel like everything I’ve gone through was for this very moment. But we don’t know what’s going to happen.”.

So, is this a careful planning or just rumors flying crazy. I did wonder about the story when I first heard it. Since it has been known Melina has had a rocky relationship with WWE talent. At one point, almost the entire Women’s locker room had heat with her. Add in the affair she had with Dave Bautista, while she was with John Morrison. It was a bit of a head scratcher on bringing her back in. However, Melina did appear on Raw’s Anniversary show. So I guess time can heal wounds.

Thank you!

This is something for me that I find very difficult to write. I came from nowhere, without experience (as you can in my typos, lol), and was given the chance to lead for The Scrum Sports Pro Wrestling department. However, due to recent challenges for the pro wrestling department, it is not feasible to continue. We thank EVERYONE that has supported us. Don’t you worry! The Scrum Sports WILL provide THE MOST UP TO DATE sports news for our area and we can not be beaten!

This is NOT a “Good-Bye”… but a “We will see you again”. A big thank you to Scrum Sports owner, Trevor Grout. This man is a good friend and has made many dreams possible. Also, a BIG thank you to Brooks Roland, not only this one cover many Lightning games, but took on the head lead position. B-Man did it with no problems at all and continues to shine.

To my writing staff, especially Joel Reser and Josh Lyon… You two have been the greatest writers I have had the pleasure of personally knowing. The passion you brought was instrumental for our page. I wish that we could continue, but life comes at us hard at times. Although, I will say this…

This is not a “Good-Bye”. This is a placement in time. The future is unwritten and I will love to see everyone back again.

Again, a “BIG THANK YOU!”, for all that has supported us. It was a wild journey and we did it in STYLE! WWWOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!-David G. WWWOOOOOOO!!!
