The Tampa Bay Lightning are YOUR 2019/2020 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!

Not the result they were hoping for

Game five didn’t quite go the Tampa Bay Lightning’s way, Corey Perry made sure of that. 9:23 into the second overtime period Perry slipped a puck past Andrei Vasilevskiy for a 3-2 Dallas Stars win. The Lightning have not lost back to back game all playoff return. Vasilevskiy could tie Nikolai Khabibulin’s team record of going 7-0 after a loss in 03-04.

Point now the playoff franchise goal leader

With his goal at 12:23 into the Brayden Point is now the franchise leader for goals in a single playoff season. Heading into tonight’s game the Lightning are 10-o when Brayden Point scores. Tampa controlled the shots on goal 11-4 through one period. Point and Nikita Kucherov are the first teammates to each a point streak of five or more games in a SCF since 94. Mark Messier and Alex Kovalev each had were the last pair of teammates to do the same thing.

Deadline trade deal paying off for Bolts

When Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow were acquired by the Lightning most fans asked themselves…. “Who”? Or as it pertained to Goodrow, we traded a first round pick for him? Since the season “restarted” both men have been a BIG part of the lineup. Entering tonight Goodrow had (1g-5a) and Coleman (5g-8a) including the goal he scored tonight in the second period. Coleman’s goal made it a 2-0 game at 7:01 of the second period. His goal was a 5 on 5 unlike Point’s first period goal that was on the power play.

20 mins to glory..

Through 40 minutes of the game it has been nothing short of domination by the Lightning. Their 21 shots on goal lead Dallas by 13…. yes through 40 minutes the Stars have only managed 8 shots on Vasilevskiy. The Lightning goalie stood tall throughout the period, keeping the Stars off the board. Tampa went a little early into a prevent system and it nearly cost them a few times. THEY’VE DONE IT, THE LIGHTNING HAVE GOTTEN TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN IN THE NHL!!! Vasilevskiy has tied Khabibulin for most wins in a playoff season after a loss with 7.

Three Stars of the Game

3rd Star: Blake Coleman – Game clinching goal
